I am looking for the smallest DC gear motors we can reasonably use in our system.

I need a very small motor that effectively opens a flap.

When the flap is closed it bocks air flow and when it is open air flow is allowed.

My first thought was to use a linear actuator where the motor couples to a screew which turns and pulls a nut mounted in the flap back and forth.

The other way is to use a worm gear mechanism that only needs to rotate about 1/2 revoluion in one direction and then back.

The flap only weights about 1 ounze and most of that weight is suspended by the hing so less than 0.2 ounze pressure is needed to move it in either direction.

We do not want to use a strategey that requires energy to keep it in the open state which is the main reason we favor the screw or latching solenoid. any advice you can provide about which of your products we swould consider I would greatly appreciate.

Right now I am using the screw actuator that we fabricated locally which runs on a very small 1.5 volt motor which we pulse with 4V to get started.

My preference is to buy the motor with the threaded shaft and the plastic nut as a single unit. The current motor draws under 0.15 amp at 1.8V.
