Halocarbon Low Velocity Barrier Fluid is recommended for use in dual and tandem sealing systems for rotary agitators and mixers employed in reactive chemical processes. In such equipment, the agitator/mixer shaft rotates at velocities approaching 150 to 300 rpms. Under these operating conditions, a critical need to achieve safe and reliable mixing is to minimize and prevent leakage of either the process or barrier fluid into or out of the chemical reactor.

Halocarbon MSLV27 and MSLV56 are fluorinated fluids that are formulated to have higher viscosities, allowing them to be used in high-temperature processes while minimizing the potential for environment-side or process-side leakage. These barrier fluids are chemically inert and intrinsically nonflammable, making them the ideal choice when sealing chemical processes that involve strong acids or bases, Lewis acids, flammable solvents, hydrocarbons, corrosive chemicals, strong oxidizers, and reactive gasses.
